The area
The villa is ideally located less than a 5-minute drive from Castelnuovo di Garfagnana, which offers restaurants, cafés, shops, the popular Thursday market and train station with good connections.
On foot, the walk down to the city takes about 15 minutes – a little further back as it goes uphill.

Castelnuovo di Garfagnana is the capital and heart of green Garfagnana and forms the northern part of the Serchio Valley, nestled between the Apuan and Appennine mountain ranges.
From Castelnuovo there are many excursion destinations: Hiking trails that can be explored on foot, horseback or mountain bike, while the town offers everything from swimming to tennis, football and athletics.
A major tourist attraction and meeting point for the entire population of Garfagnana is the old market, which dates back to medieval times. In this market it was possible to buy and sell goods for the local producer or farmer. It is held every Thursday morning in the streets and squares of the old town. There is also another market every Thursday and Saturday: Namely a vegetable and fruit market, which is definitely worth a visit.
